Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 600 g 6 longganisa, casing removed and meat crumbled Approximately 600 g after removing casing.
  • 150 g 1 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 75 g 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 24 pieces wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying Enough to create about 2 inches of oil in the pan.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine crumbled longganisa, water chestnuts, and green onions until well distributed.
  • Separate wonton wrappers into individual sheets and lay them out on a flat surface.
  • In the middle of each wrapper, spoon a teaspoonful of the filling mixture.
  • Lightly moisten the sides of the wrapper with water.
  • Gather all corners to the middle to cover the filling and form a packet.
  • Press together to completely seal the wonton.

Cooking

  • In a pan over medium heat, heat about 2 inches deep of oil.
  • Add wontons in batches and deep-fry until golden and crisp and the meat is cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove from the pan and drain on a wire rack over a baking sheet.

Notes

Sausage Wontons are best served hot and crispy. Pair with sweet and sour sauce, soy sauce, or ketchup. Garnish with additional chopped green onions or sesame seeds for extra flair. For baking, preheat to 375°F (190°C), spray with cooking oil, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
